| a portion of the 3-19-3 << Flash Mail >> email, "DISPATCH FROM BAGHDAD" By Joel C. Rosenberg, a WORLD magazine contributor (www.worldmag.com) (Somewhere over Baghdad, Iraq -- March 19, 2003) -- What's it like to fly an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet over Iraq with the clock ticking down to war? This morning, I had the honor and privilege of interviewing a U.S. Air Force Captain who's doing just that. An evangelical Christian, he asked the American people to pray for U.S. forces set to engage in OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. For operational security, he asked that his name not be used. == snip == WORLD: What do you and your colleagues need from the folks back home? == snip == USAF CAPTAIN: "Pray, really pray. Add don't let penitent worrying count as prayer. Earnestly make requests of Almighty God, believing Him to do all we ask and more with unbounded love and power. Please ask God to grant me safety, courage, wisdom, and skill. Pray that I will continue to reckon my life as hidden in Christ, fearing not those who can harm the body but can't touch the soul. Pray that I will shine with supernatural grace among my comrades, and that God might be glorified in the peace He supplies to my heart and mind. Pray for a soon and lasting peace to be brought about through the conflict. And pray for battlefield miracles -- every war has them -- that the friction of war will spin the ball into our hands." == snip == WORLD: Anything else you'd like to tell the American people in the hours before OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM is set to commence? USAF CAPTAIN: "Keep an eye out for news of the mighty F-15E Strike Eagle!" WORLD: Thank you very much for your time and insights, Captain. Our prayers are with you as you lead the way for freedom! May the Lord bless you and your colleagues and give you safety and great success.
